James J. Brown - A.I.A.
Principal

James Brown James began his career designing custom single family homes and small multifamily projects before joining Wattenbarger in 1998. "I'm interested in Senior Housing because it provides the opportunity to design both at the intimate residential scale, and within the context of a larger community. I love the challenges and opportunities that it presents to design spaces that improve the physical and emotional quality of life for the residents."

He has played a lead role as project architect or project manager on almost two dozen projects during his tenure at Wattenbarger. In addition to project management, he is the inhouse developer of the Wattenbarger "Project Center" website, and is an office resource for Code and Accessibility requirements and interpretations. James works to create possitive, solutions oriented relationships within the design team. James became an associate with the firm in 2006 & principal in 2008. James is actively involved in the Seattle chapter of the AIA Design for Aging Forum and serves on the Assisted Living council for Aging Services of Washington

James is an accomplished artist as well as a licensed architect.
